What we do

Borehole services from start to finish

One contractor for the whole water journey — survey, drilling, pump, paperwork and after-care. No handballing you between suppliers.

Borehole Drilling

Rotary air-percussion drilling through Cape Town's toughest geology — Table Mountain sandstone, granite and Malmesbury shale. Domestic holes from 40 m to 150 m+, cased and gravel-packed to standard.

Most homes hit water between 60 m and 90 m.

Who we are

A crew that knows the ground beneath your feet

Borehole Drilling Cape Town started in 2009 with one second-hand rig and a borrowed bakkie. Fifteen years later we run six modern rigs across the city — and we still answer our own phones.

What sets us apart is local ground knowledge. Drilling Milnerton's sands is nothing like punching through Durbanville's clay or Constantia's granite, and promising a depth over the phone before we have seen your erf is how cowboys pad invoices. We visit, we read the geology, then we quote.

  • Fixed written quotations — valid 30 days, no surprises
  • Free on-site assessments anywhere in our service area
  • City of Cape Town borehole registration handled for you
  • Sites boarded, spoil contained, gardens left as we found them

Why choose us

Five reasons homeowners call us first

  1. Our rigs, our crews

We do not subcontract a single metre of drilling. The people who quote your job are the people on the rig — which is exactly why our quotes hold and our deadlines do too.

  2. Ground truth before price

Every quote starts with a free site assessment: geology, access, overhead clearances and where the water is most likely to sit. You get an honest depth expectation, not a sales pitch.

  3. Quotes that hold

The rand value on your written quote is the rand value on your invoice. If we hit unexpected conditions, we stop, show you, and agree the way forward before continuing.

  4. Clean sites, respected gardens

Ground boards under the rig, spoil containment from hour one, and a site walk-through with you before we leave. Your landscaper will thank you.

  5. After-care that answers

A 12-month workmanship guarantee, annual service plans, and a workshop that keeps common pump spares on the shelf. When you call, a person answers.

Deep hole through decomposed granite for a family tired of municipal restrictions. Yield test came back strong enough to run garden irrigation and pool top-up with headroom to spare.

Pressure pump, filtration and tank manifold installed in a Durbanville estate pump room

Estate irrigation tie-in — Durbanville

74 mClay over shale3-zone irrigation

New-build estate plot drilled and plumbed into a three-zone garden irrigation system with a tidy pump room — filter, booster and controller all labelled for the new owner's gardener.

Sports club supply — Milnerton

Shallow but hungry: sandy soils meant fast drilling but heavy casing. The club's fields now stay green through summer without touching municipal supply.

Smallholding borehole — Stellenbosch

140 mWinelands slopesDual pumps + tanks

A 140 m hole feeding two pumps and 20 000 litres of storage for a guest farmhouse, orchard and vine rows — drilled between harvest rows without damaging a single vine.

Client feedback

Straight from the site diary

"They arrived when they said they would, drilled where they said they would, and the invoice matched the quote to the rand. In this industry that counts for a lot."

— Marlene Vosloo, Constantia

"Pieter talked us out of the bigger pump we thought we needed because our yield test did not justify it. Honest people."

— Rashid K., Rylands

"Our smallholding ran on borehole water through two dry summers without a single day without water. The service plan keeps everything humming."

— Elmarie du Plessis, Stellenbosch

"The site was spotless when they left — my wife still cannot believe it. Three days, one mess-free borehole, water on tap."

— Dave W., Durbanville

Common questions

Straight answers, no drilling around

How much does a borehole cost in Cape Town?

Most domestic projects land between R65 000 and R130 000 including the pump, depending on depth, geology and site access. After a free site visit you receive a fixed written quote — the price we quote is the price you pay.

Do I need permission to drill a borehole in Cape Town?

The City of Cape Town requires that boreholes and wellpoints are registered. We complete and submit the registration on your behalf as part of every job, so the paperwork is done before the rig arrives.

How deep do we drill before hitting water?

It depends entirely on geology. Milnerton's sands often give water at 30–50 m, Durbanville's clays can run past 70 m, and Constantia's granite is variable. We never promise a depth before surveying your site — and you only pay for metres actually drilled, agreed upfront.

Is borehole water safe to drink?

Not automatically. We test against SANS 241 before you drink anything, and many Cape Town aquifers carry iron or manganese that needs treatment. Where lab results call for it, we install the right treatment system and re-test to confirm.

How long does drilling take?

A domestic hole typically takes one to three days on site. Pump installation and commissioning usually add another day once yield testing is complete. Access constraints can add time — we flag those at the site visit.
